High School Scholarships

2014-06-05 13.27.25Forty percent of all students in Tustin Unified School District live in poverty. Many of these students meet the requirements to attend universities; however, they struggle to pay tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and fees. These scholarships allow students to attend college who would be otherwise unable to attend. Scholarships will be distributed to all four high schools in the Tustin Unified School District.

Applications will be distributed on-line during the month of March. Counselors at each of the high schools will be contacted during that month to help inform students of process. A selection committee of three Rotarians will review applications and interview candidates during the month of May. Awards will be presented at a regular meeting of the Tustin/Santa Ana Rotary Club on the first Thursday in June. Recipients will also be recognized at their schools’ Senior Awards Nights or graduation in June.

The High School Scholarship program provides 1 student from each high school with a $1000 scholarship.

Sustainability:

The Club has provided scholarships for several years and will continue to do so into the future.

Advertising/Community Outreach:

Advertising is done through the high schools for candidates. Interact Club Members at each of the high schools also help to spread the word of scholarships’ availability. The Club features winners in our Newsletter and a press release to the Tustin News.
