We are Rotary

Today, May 4, marks a historic moment in Rotary’s story. On this day in 1987, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Rotary clubs could no longer exclude women from membership—opening the door to a more inclusive and diverse organization. One of the pioneers of this change was Sylvia Whitlock of the Rotary Club of Duarte, who went on to become the first woman to serve as a Rotary club president. Her leadership helped pave the way for generations of women in Rotary, strengthening our impact and expanding our reach in communities around the world.
